Description

We’re on the lookout for a driven and detail-focused Senior Accounts Officer to join one of Australia's most iconic racing operations. This is a rare opportunity to combine your accounting expertise with the excitement of the thoroughbred racing world.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in keeping the financial wheels turning behind the scenes of a fast-paced, high-profile stable. From managing payroll and reconciling accounts to liaising with racing bodies and overseeing prizemoney distributions, your work will directly support the day-to-day operations of a leading trainer.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing accounts payable and receivable with precision and professionalism
    • Recording daily financial transactions in Xero and ensuring accuracy across the board
    • Reconciling multiple bank accounts and general ledger entries
    • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
    • Overseeing payroll processing for both stable and office staff
    • Lodging payroll tax returns for NSW and VIC and managing PAYG and superannuation
    • Preparing year-end PAYG summaries and payroll tax reconciliations
    • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow monitoring
    • Ensuring all financial activity complies with industry standards and company policy
    • Maintaining clean, up-to-date financial records and supporting audit requirements
    • Working with Prism and/or Ardex to handle industry-specific accounting processes
    • Assisting with tax returns and supporting broader finance administration

 What you’ll bring:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
    • At least 3–5 years’ experience in a senior accounting role
    • Solid grasp of accounting principles and financial reporting
    • Strong systems experience – Xero proficiency essential, Prism or Ardex a major advantage
    • Outstanding attention to detail and time management skills
    • Confidence working independently in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
    • Experience in the racing, rural or bloodstock sectors will be looked upon favourably

If you're ready to take your accounting career to the next level in a role that blends finance with the thrill of racing, we’d love to hear from you.
