Young Horse Trainer – Full-time
Calogo Bloodstock S.A. trading as Coolmore Australia (Stud), located in the Hunter Valley and Mount White, is seeking applications for the following full-time position:
Young Horse Trainer –
- Able to educate and train young horses on the ground
- Plan and implement training regimes and feeding plans and reviewing and adjusting when necessary
- Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting, kicking and barrier issues
- Advise Foreperson on factors affecting horses and their education
- Supervise horse feeding program to ensure optimum fitness and performance
- Record all horse training data and ensure accurate and up to date records are maintained for all veterinary, horse health and related activities
Essential Criteria
- A Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years professional experience educating and training horses
- A minimum of two years’ experience handling and working with and educating thoroughbred horses
- Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
- Proven ability to train and educate young horses including yearlings
- Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
- Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
- Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
The salary for the position will be above award and based on your skills and experience in the range of $75,000 to $80,000, including guaranteed accommodation.
