Godolphin has an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Administration Assistant / Stud Hand to join our Team at our Woodlands operation near Denman NSW. Following a relevant probationary period, the successful applicant will be offered a fulltime permanent position.
During the season, the Veterinary Administration Assistant provides administrative services and support to stud management and operations with mare reproductive and breeding processes for resident broodmares, ensuring vetting and covering processes run smoothly. For the remainder of the year, the Stud Hand is responsible for the routine care and welfare of resident bloodstock including broodmares, foals, weanlings and yearlings.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Assisting with the coordination of reproductive veterinary examinations, including preparation and distribution of vet lists to relevant staff and coordination of mares required for daily vetting.
- Recording veterinary reports, results and related information into HMS.
- Assist with processing mare bookings into both internal and external stallions, ensuring provision of all necessary information.
- Coordination of transportation for walk on’s to both internal and external stallions, including preparation and distribution of truck schedules.
- Carryout daily stud tasks and activities such as feeding, checking stock, mucking out, movement of bloodstock, health checks and general stud duties including assisting with pre- and post-foaling procedures.
Criteria:
- Well organised, well presented and confident Team player; with a proven track record of punctual and reliable work attendance along with excellent time management skills.
- IT skills and confidence, with proven data entry experience with a high degree of accuracy and proficient in MS Office applications
- Sound knowledge of thoroughbred breeding industry and operations, with a practical understanding of thoroughbred reproductive principles and practices including reproductive veterinary care and management.
- Demonstrated work experience and practical understanding of thoroughbred health care and welfare requirements and measures, including injury management and rehabilitation principles and practices
- Experience across all aspects of stud operations and activities including handling young stock, parading horses, assisting professional contractors and general stud duties
- Understanding of and practical experience in applying safe systems of work and practices, including identifying and reporting risks and incidents
- A preparedness to work out of hours and weekends
- Current Drivers Licence
