Yulong Investments is a large thoroughbred racing and breeding enterprise based near Nagambie, Victoria.

The position of thoroughbred young horse trainer and handler is a full time permanent position. We require a capable and reliable person with strong skills and experience in training thoroughbred foals and yearlings in their vital early educational learning phase, and in preparation for the important weanling / yearling sales. On-going training of the horses is also required to prepare them for further breaking in education. A very sound understanding of the nutritional requirements and confirmation of the horses is a vital element of this position. Sound written and verbal skills plus experience using MS Word are required.

The person must be prepared to work in a team environment and must be physically fit and able to handle the foals and yearlings. Walking the horses to train and condition them will be required.

Previous experience working at the Magic Millions and/or Inglis Weanling / Yearling sales is a necessity, and you may be required to attend these sales with the horses.

Duties will include loading horses onto walking machines; bandaging and treatments; training the young horses to stand for the farrier, dentists and Vets; checking injured horses; feeding and checking mobs of horses; administering oral medication; teaching the young horses to lead and walk properly for upcoming sales in very busy loud environments.

A tertiary qualification in horse handling /training / breeding is also required.
