Myrtle House is a thoroughbred racing stable with ambitions to match. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Stable Foreperson to lead our Sydney operation at Hawkesbury — someone who sets a high standard, earns respect through example, and takes genuine pride in the horses and people in their care.

REMUNERATION
Salary & benefits
$78,000 – $80,000 per annum (plus superannuation)
Salary is commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Operations & Horse Welfare
– Oversee the daily organisation and running of the stable to the highest standards.
– Monitor horse condition, training progress, and presentation across the entire string.
– Administer veterinary treatments and medications in accordance with trainer and veterinary guidance.
– Prepare daily work lists and allocate riders using Prism.
– Maintain full compliance with horse welfare, safety, and industry regulations.
People & Stakeholder Management
– Lead, supervise, and coordinate stable staff — setting clear expectations and holding the team to them.
– Support staff development, manage performance, and foster a positive, professional team culture.
– Liaise with veterinarians, farriers, and transport providers to ensure seamless stable operations.
Race Day & Representation
– Represent Myrtle House at race meetings, trials, and jump-outs.
– Coordinate race day logistics, staffing, and transport with precision and professionalism.
– Proven experience in a stable management role within a professional racing environment.
– Demonstrated leadership ability — the capacity to motivate a team and maintain standards without compromise.
– Extensive knowledge of horse care, training practices, and thoroughbred welfare.
– Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a demanding environment.
– Excellent communication skills — clear, direct, and respectful with staff, trainers, and external providers.
– High attention to detail across all aspects of horse care and stable presentation.
– A solid work ethic and willingness to lead from the front across every aspect of stable life.
– Certificate IV or equivalent in Racing (required).
– Current driver’s licence and Racing NSW/Victoria licensing (required).
