MTB Racing in Toowoomba seeks a Full-time Stable Foreperson to assist in the running of our busy racing stable.
Responsible for the delivery of daily care, health and nutrition regimes for our horses in training in accordance with the horse training plan and workplace procedures and requirements.
Minimum Skills:
- Must have at least equivalent to 2 year full time experience in this role and with excellent knowledge of horse husbandry skills.
Qualification:
- Relevant Certificate III or equivalent International qualification or experience
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise race day and trial preparations
- Race day attendance
- Taking full charge during trainers absence
- Organise the daily running of morning and afternoon stable routine inc groundwork, walker, swimming as well as stable cleaning and maintenance of gear, equipment and facilities
- Liaising with Trainer, suppliers, and owners
- Effectively manage and direct staff
- Supervise daily care of horses, including routine health checks, recognising ailments and signs of injury and assist our stable veterinarian
To be considered for this role you will need:
- Proven experience working with thoroughbreds and a firm understanding of the training, care and nutrition of horses
- Appropriate leadership skills to manage the stable and work effectively within a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good record keeping with knowledge of Microsoft excel and Ardex being an advantage.
The salary will be in the range of $54,000 to $59,000 pa depending upon your background and then, level of responsibility.
