Our client is currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join their quickly growing Toowoomba stable.
The successful applicant is required to ride timed track gallops and also have the ability to guide younger horses through their early preparations. You should also be experienced and confident riding slow and fast work with particular emphasis on riding pace/timed work and jump outs.
Essential Skills:
The prospective elite applicants of these positions will need to comply with the following to be successful:
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be able to competently ride and know gallop times
- Be able to identify issues with horses that may affect racing performance
- Have empathy for each horse
- Good communication skills
- Proven ability demonstrating strong work ethic, absolute reliability & sense of responsibility
- Be physically fit
- Demonstrate the ability to take direction and follow instructions closely
- Ability to work both as part of close knit team and independently
- Excellent proven horse handling skills
- Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
- Exceptional tidiness of stables and associated duties
- Proud grooming skills
- Daily care and management of horses
- Be available for strapping duties on race/trial/jump out days.
Preferable Certifications:
- A Certificate III or equivalent International qualification
- QRIC Licensed
The successful applicant will be commenced on a casual basis with scope to a permanent long-term committed role.
