Cityview Farm have an exciting opportunity for an assistant night watch person for the upcoming foaling season, effective from August to mid-November. We are located in Gisborne South, Victoria, approximately 45 minutes from Melbourne CBD.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about thoroughbred breeding and is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated horse person to join our enthusiastic team.
The successful applicant needs to have at least one seasons experience night watch, the ability to recognise problems pre and post foaling, good horse husbandry skills, good time management as well as good communication and record keeping skills.
You will be expected to work well independently and in a small team when necessary. Your role will be to monitor the mares and contact the on farm Broodmare Manager when a mare begins to foal, you will not be required to foal down. Other on farm back up and a prompt on-call veterinarian are available for support when needed.
The successful applicant will also be responsible for monitoring and caring for mares and foals post-foaling, mucking boxes, loading walk outs and making feeds during their shifts.
