Horse Trainer/Breeding

Segenhoe Stud, a leading thoroughbred breeding and spelling operation in the Upper Hunter Valley, NSW Australia is seeking competent and experienced horse staff to join our team. We are looking for a motivated, determined & experienced individual.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.

Essential Skills:

• All applicants must have a minimum of at least 3 years full time professional experience in the role.
• Knowledge & experience of horse handling & training methods specific to the thoroughbred breeding industry.
• Knowledge, skills & experience of stable management & preparation of horses for breeding & sale.
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses, including at yearling sales.
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of horses.

Desirable Qualification:

• A Certificate III or equivalent International qualification.

The salary package will reflect your skills and experience and will be in the range of $54,000 to $57,000 per annum depending upon skill level. In addition, subsidised accommodation on the farm may be available.
