B2B Thoroughbreds, a boutique breeding farm located in the Southern Highlands, Mittagong NSW is currently seeking highly experienced and capable Yearling Manger to join our team on a full-time basis.

The position presents with the opportunity to progress through to Assistant Stud Manager within the first year for the right candidate.

The position also presents with the opportunity for couples to join the operation with other stud hand and/or administration positions available.

Applicant requirements - able to prepare and co-ordinate multiple boutique drafts for yearling sales to a high standard.

The successful applicant will manage all aspects of Yearling Prep including, education, fitness of young horses, as well as care of sick and injured horses under Veterinary supervision while working within a framework of risk management and standard operating procedures.

The primary role will include preparing yearlings for sale and care of weanlings and yearlings, directing a dedicated team and alongside the Stud Manager.

Essential Skills:

  • All applicants must have a minimum of at least 2 years full time professional experience in the role and/or previously working as an assistant
  • A minimum of at least two years’ experience handling & working with young thoroughbred horses
  • Proven knowledge & experience of horse handling & training methods specific to the thoroughbred breeding industry, including preparing horses for sale
  • Oral & written communication skills of a level to take instruction & prepare basic reports
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety obligations & demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training & breeding of horses
  • Foaling down experience would be beneficial, however not essential

Terms of Employment:

These are full-time positions, with a minimum commitment of at least 2 years.
