Beaudesert Race Club – the ultimate in country racing!
Beaudesert Race Club has been racing since 1895 and holds a long history and rich heritage in the heart of the Scenic Rim.
In 2001 the racecourse underwent a major upgrade to the all-weather course proper and in 2018 became the sister club to the Gold Coast Turf Club whereby continued investments have been made to upgrade facilities & infrastructure.

THE ROLE
Reporting to the General Manager Racecourses, this role supervises the ongoing maintenance of the course proper, training tracks, stable facilities and grounds at our Beaudesert Racecourse. The successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring the local racecourse is presented in the best possible condition and contribute to making the venue and course available at all times as a racing and training facility.
Key accountabilities of the role include:
- Leading a small team, managing, improving staff performance and roster management
- Active engagement within the local community to help foster social and commercial relationships particularly with trainers and owners
- Conducting Penetrometer readings, soil sampling and water testing and implement fertilising programmes
- Calculating poison usage and provide usage and safety advice to grounds persons
- Managing and supervising activities for barrier set up on race days, jump-outs and barrier trials and running of barrier trials
- Setting daily, weekly and monthly priorities regarding track, grounds and facilities maintenance
- Making recommendations on improvements or innovations on matters relating to track maintenance, grounds, training and stable operations and venue buildings
- Leading by example through role modelling a commitment to Racing, Workplace and Venue Safety
- Assist as required at the Gold Coast Turf Club, Bundall with Raceday and non raceday duties
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in the role, the right fit will possess:
- Turf management experience in the maintenance of equine racing and training surfaces
- A green keeping trade certificate or a related discipline along with a thorough knowledge and understanding of the racing industry
- Supervisory skills and the ability to coordinate, motivate and performance manage team members
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills especially for liaising with trainers and owners
- Sound time management and organisational skills
- General operational and mechanical maintenance skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of the relevant WHS legislation particularly for workplace tasks and incident reporting
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills
- Computer literacy and skills in the use of Microsoft Office and rostering systems
- Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals
- Strong analytical skills and the capacity to develop solutions to problems
