Sport Integrity race day Steward opportunities are currently available from entry level to experienced professional.

We are seeking enthusiastic candidates to join our respected race day stewards team.

Multiple roles – permanent full time and part time

About us

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV), a statutory body, is responsible for the control, development and promotion of the Victorian harness racing industry.

With strong links to rural and regional communities, we are committed to developing a vibrant and sustainable industry that promotes participation, integrity and racing excellence.

Our commercial arm, thetrots.com.au, showcases highlights from the harness racing calendar and is supported by our broadcast channel TrotsVision, which encompasses both live streaming of race days and On Demand offerings.

We value all of our customers, from our participants - which includes trainers, drivers, breeders and owners - to our regional clubs, industry stakeholders and fans of the sport. We work closely with the other Victorian racing codes to support the ethical treatment of our animals, as well as ethical wagering.

The Opportunity

To join our integrity team of highly respected Stewards', here is a summary of the key work you will be performing:

  • Preparation and research prior to race meetings
  • Attending race meetings, Inquiries and Appeals ensuring harness racing is conducted fairly and in accordance with rules, policies and procedures.
  • Race performance analysis and report writing
  • Building professional relationships with a diverse range of participants and industry stakeholders
  • Regular travel throughout regional Victoria, including by light aircraft; and attending race meetings that often run from late afternoon to late evening.

About You

Ideally, you have an avid interest in sports integrity and or sports administration and governance and have:

  • Experience working in a sports integrity role or, ideally, racing stewarding environment
  • Knowledge and or experience of horses, racing, race strategies
  • An understanding of legal principles relating to horse racing
  • A focus on detail, with strong interpersonal, analytical, interpretation and negotiation skills
  • Confidence, professionalism and are articulate with strong administrative skills
  • Enthusiasm to learn, develop and grow
