Qualified Farrier

Experienced FARRIER – full-time required to work with JB Farriers – J Bunting Enterprises Pty Ltd. Location – FLEMINGTON, VIC. Salary - in range of $90,000 - $100,000 + super Per annum depending on your experience and the level of responsibility. Must have Cert III or IV Farrier trade qualifications (or equivalent o/s qualifications) or at least 3 years experience plus at least 3 years post qualification with racehorses.

• Inspects, trims and shapes horses' hooves
• Prepare horses' hooves for shoeing
• Forms, fits and nails horseshoes
• Identify lameness
• Advise hoof issues and provide solutions
• Inspect hooves and apply race plates or shoes subject to requirements
• Select metal stock for job requirements
• Forge and shoe modification
• Communicate well with trainers, stable staff, vets
• Able to work without supervision
• Experience within the Thoroughbred Racing industry
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
