Liam Howley Racing, a fast-growing and ambitious training stable in Kyneton, Victoria, is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Trainer to join our dynamic team.

This hands-on role is ideal for a horse person with strong stable management skills, excellent horsemanship, and leadership ability to drive high standards and performance within a team.

You will combine daily operations, horse welfare, and staff management, with a strong focus on leading people and maintaining high stable standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily running and organisation of the stable.
• Supervise, lead, and coordinate stable staff, liaising with veterinarians, farriers, and transport providers.
• Prepare daily worklists and allocate riders via Prism.
• Monitor horse condition, training progress, and overall presentation.
• Administer and assist with veterinary treatments and medications under trainer and veterinary guidance.
• Represent the stable at race meetings, trials, and jump-outs.
• Coordinate race day logistics, staffing, and transport.
• Maintain high standards of horse welfare, safety, and compliance.
• Support staff development, performance management, and a positive team culture. 

The Successful Applicant Will Have

• Proven experience managing within a racing stable environment.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Extensive knowledge of horse care and training practices.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• A solid work ethic and willingness to pitch in across all aspects of the stable.
• High attention to detail in horse care and stable presentation.
• Confident communication skills to manage people and set clear expectations.
• Certificate IV in Racing.
• Current driver’s license and Racing Victoria licensing.
