Description

Godolphin Australia is currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join stud farms. Positions are available at Aberdeen, NSW.

Horse Trainer/Breeding – Duties will include:
• Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
• Prepare and train young stock, including handling yearlings and riding young stock
• Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
• Train and educate foals and young stock to be handled
• Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
• Assisting Veterinarians in attending to medical and health needs of horses as required

The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000.00 to $80,000.00 per annum depending upon the location, position, and level of responsibility. All positions are full-time.

Essential Skills:
A Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years professional experience educating and training breeding horses.

In addition, the following maybe required depending on the role:
• A minimum of three years’ full-time experience handling and educating thoroughbreds
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
• Proven knowledge & experience of horse handling & training methods specific to the thoroughbred breeding industry, including working with stallions and educating young stock
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
• Ability to work in a team, and independently (or proven management experience if the position is for a foreperson role)
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
• Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
