Kavanagh Racing is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Foreperson to join our team at Flemington Racecourse.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and capable horseperson with a strong background in the thoroughbred racing industry. The successful applicant will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the stable and must be confident handling racehorses.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily supervision and care of horses in training
- Saddling and preparing horses for trackwork and race days
- Attending race meetings
- Liaising with trainers, staff, jockeys and race day officials
- Organisation and supervision of stable staff
- Monitoring horses and reporting any concerns to management
- General stable duties as required
The Successful Applicant Will Have
- Previous experience working in a senior role within a thoroughbred racing stable
- Confidence and experience saddling racehorses
- The ability and willingness to attend race days
- Excellent horse handling skills and a calm, professional manner
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A strong work ethic and genuine passion for the racing industry
- A truck licence would be highly regarded,
