Description

Cairns Jockey Club are seeking a full time Events & Marketing Manager to join their team in April 2022!

We are the fastest-growing Racing Club in Queensland. Our Club runs up to 20 race meetings annually, with our peak Racing Carnival season from May – September. 

The successful applicant will ideally come with prior experience in organising events and marketing.

Hours of duty:

38 hours per week with reasonable additional hours up to 45 hours per week during peak times / when events are on.

Software knowledge:

  • MS Excel, MS Word & Outlook
  • Xero
  • Trybooking
  • WordPress
  • TalkBox - eDM marketing
  • Swiftpos (or a similar point of sale system)

Cairns Jockey Club will provide training for these systems.

Primary objectives of the position:

  • Report directly to the General Manager
  • Management and recruitment of Memberships
  • Manage and secure Sponsorships
    • Including Corporate Members, Race Sponsors and Fashion Sponsors
    • Managing and creating contracts
    • Ensure contract terms are met
  • Coordinate race meeting event management. Tasks include but are not limited to;
    • Securing sponsors
    • Organising all staff including bar, TAB, security, racing, cleaning, gate and ambulance staff
    • Theming and coordinating furniture set up, linen hire and table plans
    • Booking entertainment and photographers
    • Ticketing including updating the ticketing system and booking tickets
    • Ordering floats, ATM, trophies and hampers
    • Assisting with bar management including hiring eftpos terminals, updating bar lists & pricing in the point of sale solution
    • Creating and printing racebooks
    • Managing VIP invites and guests
  • Facilitate all aspects of venue hire for commercial, private and community groups
  • Apply for and acquit grants
  • Manage marketing including website, social media, TVC, eDM, radio, print, contracts and creating marketing material through the CJC graphic designer
  • Manage administration duties including but not limited to;
    • Banking
    • Signage hire
    • Answering phone enquiries
    • Filing and document management
  • Manage bookings and the booking system (Trybooking)
  • Assist with finance, primarily invoicing (Xero) and budgeting

  • Corporate Race Day – Friday 22nd April 2022
  • Thursday 12th May 2022
  • Racing for a Cure – Sunday 29th May 2022
  • Monday 13th June 2022
  • Cairns Cup Ladies Day, Saturday 20th August 2022
  • Cairns Cup, Saturday 27th August 2022
