Sampson Racing is a professional thoroughbred training stable based at Kembla Grange Racecourse NSW. We're looking for a reliable Casual Stablehand to join our team and help care for our string of thoroughbreds. Join a winning team with recent results across country and provincial circuits.
THE ROLE
- Feeding, watering, grooming, and general care of horses
- Mucking out stables and maintaining stable cleanliness
- Leading horses to and from the walker, day yards, wash bay, and trackwork
- Assisting with saddling and preparation for trackwork and race days
- Monitoring horse condition and reporting any concerns to the Trainer or Stable Foreman
- Following directions from the Trainer
- Supporting workplace health and safety in the stable
HOURS
- Morning shift: 6.30am - 9.30am
- Afternoon shift: 3.30pm - 5.30pm (negotiable, by mutual agreement)
- Race meeting and additional shifts available from time to time
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A current Racing NSW Stablehand license (or willingness to obtain one)
- Experience working with thoroughbreds in a stable environment
- Reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious
- Able to start before sunrise and commit to consistent shifts
- A team-first attitude and a genuine love for horses
PAY
- Competitive hourly rate (inclusive of casual loading)
- 12% superannuation on top
- Paid fortnightly via electronic transfer
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- Casual position under the Horse & Greyhound Training Award 2020 (MA000008) - Stablehand classification
- Two-week paid trial period
