Godolphin has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Broodmare Supervisor to join the team at Woodlands based near Denman NSW.
Reporting to the Stud Manager, the Broodmare Supervisor is responsible for the daily care, health and welfare of broodmares, foals and youngstock in accordance with workplace procedures and requirements. This role plays an important part in the delivery of broodmare operations, including feeding, horse care, reproductive activities, foaling and post-foaling care, as well as supporting the day-to-day supervision of staff and stud activities.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Supervise daily broodmare operations including feeding, horse movements, vet work, farrier, teasing and general stud activities
- Provide daily care and monitoring of broodmares, foals and youngstock, including routine health checks and identifying signs of injury or illness
- Administer treatments and assist with the prevention and management of equine injury and disease in line with workplace procedures
- Assist with the supervision and day to day support of stud staff to ensure work is completed safely and effectively
- Maintain a clean and tidy workplace ensuring that all hazards and incidents are reported as soon as practicable
- Co-operate with all WHS policies to ensure the safety of yourself and others in the workplace
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience supervising or leading staff in a breeding, stud or similar operational environment
- Excellent horse handling skills, with confidence managing thoroughbreds of varying ages, classes and temperaments
- Sound knowledge of horse health, care and welfare, including the prevention and treatment of injury and disease
- Practical understanding of thoroughbred reproductive principles and broodmare management, including foaling down and post-foaling care
- Confident across general stud operations, including handling youngstock, parading horses and assisting veterinarians
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, including identifying and reporting hazards, risks and incidents
- A willingness to work outside normal hours and weekends as required
- Current driver’s licence preferred
