Description

The Australian Jockeys Association:

  • is a key stakeholder in the Australian Horse Racing Industry
  • promotes the professional interests, safety, health and wellbeing of Australia’s 850 Jockeys, with a focus on issues of national importance
  • provides high-level support to State/Territory Jockey Associations

The CEO will:

  • report to the Chairman and Board of the Australian Jockeys Association
  • develop and implement programs and services that enhance the safety, working conditions, remuneration and wellbeing of Australia’s Jockeys
  • promote and protect the rights and welfare of Australia’s Jockeys

Key Responsibilities:

  • work with the Board to set and deliver the strategic direction of the organization
  • strengthen relationships with State and Territory Jockey Associations, Racing Australia, State and Territory Racing Authorities, Government, and Racing Industry Regulatory bodies.

Governance

  • develop all functions of the organization within the established policy framework and in accordance with the authority delegated by the Board.

Financial Management

  • be accountable for the development of an annual budget and monitoring the ongoing financial performance of the organization
  • ensure the Board is informed in a timely manner of any variances to budgeted income or expenditure

People Management

  • lead a small, dedicated team committed to achieving best possible outcomes
  • implement flexible and productive work practices that create a positive, responsive and effective team culture

Our ideal candidate:

  • has a high level of interest/experience and passion for horseracing
  • is a leader who has proven experience in management
  • has expertise in managing, mentoring and setting the strategic direction for a small team
  • builds sustainable and purposeful working relationships
  • is flexible, adaptable, innovative and committed
  • communicates clearly and with influence
  • thinks, plans and works strategically to achieve goals
  • negotiates persuasively
  • is technologically proficient

Professional Qualifications

  • a Degree in Commerce/Business preferred but not essential

Remuneration and Benefits

  • An all-inclusive remuneration package of circa $120,000 - $130,000 (inclusive) p.a. will be provided for the successful applicant
