Young Horse Trainer/Rider

Alexander Racing is currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our stable at Ballarat VIC.  The positions are full-time with early morning starts and require a person to work weekends on a roster.

• Young Horse Trainer/Rider - able to ride 8 -10 horses per morning with proven ability to ride pace/timed work and jump outs.
• Young Horse Educator– able to educate our young horses on the ground with ability to manage a small team of horses and staff under the direction of the head foreperson.

The salary for both positions will be above award – in the range of $54,000 to $55,000 per annum depending upon the level of skill.

Essential Skills:

All applicants must have a minimum of 3 year full time professional experience in the role and be able to prove they are reliable workers with excellent horsemanship skills.   In addition the following will be required:

• Demonstrated knowledge and proven experience in horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• A vocational level of English to be able to communicate in the work place and take instruction

Desirable Qualification:

• A Certificate III or equivalent International qualification
