We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled horse person to fill full-time position of Stud Hand on our boutique thoroughbred farm of approx 40 horses.
You would be required to work well as part of a small team and also independently.
You will be responsible for all aspects of stud work incl. feeding, grooming, assisting vet and farrier, cleaning and upkeep of stables, barn, sheds, vehicles and general farm jobs such as gardening and pasture management, farm maintanance etc
The position requires applicant to have a high level of horse skills and must be capable of handling all horses foals, weanlings, yearlings, mares and racehorse spellers etc. as well as have a keen eye for illness and injury. Being able to administer treatments to these horses is essential and you will need to have had previous experience .
You will also be required to take part in yearling preparation and be confident and capable of safely and effectively handling colts and have experience in presenting horses to a high standard.
This is a hard and laborious job but we can offer nice well educated horses and a picturesque working environment in a convenient location. Hours can also be flexible and would certainly suit someone currently competing in the local equestrian scene. If you have a passion for the outdoors and animals this is a dream job.
On-site accommodation in the form of a self contained studio flat can be offered if required although it is only suitable for one person.
