Yulong Stud, one of the leading Thoroughbred breeding operations in Victoria and based in Nagambie, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Stallion Manager.
Reporting to the Stud Farm Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to, managing the day to day feeding, grooming, care, exercise, farrier and Vet work for the stallions at Yulong Stud.
Duties will include -
ensuring all stables and surrounds are kept clean, tidy and maintained to a high quality level at all times;
coaching, educating and developing employees to ensure they are taught best practices in the handling and care of stallions;
record and report to applicable Yulong management, all treatments and other information as directed by senior management;
oversee the running of the serving barn including correct identification of mares prior to service, teasing and preparation of mares for service, and the breeding of mares;
ensure all stallion tack and rugs ae kept clean and in good condition at all times;
assist in other areas of the farm as required.
You will be required to treat all employees equally and fairly. You must also ensure all employees, contractors and any visitors comply with all workplace health and safety protocols at all times.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
at least 3 years experience as a Stallion Manager or Assistant Stallion Manager at a large commercial horse stud;
tertiary qualifications are highly regarded.
