Longwood Thoroughbred Farm has an exciting opportunity to join our team for the upcoming foaling season in the role of Relief Foaling Attendant.
The successful applicant will be engaged for four nights per fortnight, on a fixed roster. An opportunity also exists to work day shifts if desired.
On farm accommodation is available.
What we’re looking for:
- Prior experience working with Broodmares and foals
- Previous foaling experience with knowledge of normal and abnormal foaling positions
- Decision maker with the ability to provide a considered assessment of a situation
- Prior experience in foaling down mares on your own
- Ability to accurately monitor pre and post foaling mares
- Experience monitoring and providing assistance if required to newborn foals
- Knowledge and understanding of veterinary procedures
- Excellent ability to communicate with veterinarians
- Ability to work autonomously
- Accurate Record Keeping and keen attention to detail
- Manual drivers license, experience towing a float
