The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and professional Regional Thoroughbred Track and Racecourse Manager to provide specialist advice to the Senior Tracks and Racecourse Manager on the development, maintenance and improvements of Regional Racing and Training track surfaces including Track Infrastructure.

Reporting to the Senior Tracks & Racecourse Manager the role is responsible for the regional thoroughbred tracks in Queensland and supporting the Track and Racecourse Development Manager.

This includes partnering with the clubs and infrastructure teams as/where appropriate.

The Success Profile

  • Qualifications in track and/or turf management, business and/or project management highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience with natural soil/sand and turf track management and/or operations.
  • Experience in managing thoroughbred racing and training surfaces.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the use of machinery for maintaining racing and training track surfaces.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at every level.
  • Experience in solving unpredictable problems by analysing alternatives and developing or modifying construction and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to provide considered advice and recommendations to the business, EGM Operations and Senior Tracks and Racecourse Manager regarding track assessments and business objectives.
  • Proven ability to manage and work within budgets and procurement processes.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete administrative tasks, use Microsoft Office suite of programs and manage priorities and time.
  • Ability to negotiate, resolve conflict and manage change.
  • Experience in turf, non-turf and proprietary surfaces track rebuilds or development.
