Description

The Sunshine Coast Turf Club (SCTC) is one of Australia's premier Thoroughbred Racing and Training precincts. Located 1hr north of Brisbane CBD.

The Club conducts approximately 65 race meetings a year, predominantly Sundays, along with Friday Nights, Metropolitan Saturdays and Feature Days.  The Club also operates various function areas for both raceday and non-raceday events.

The SCTC is seeking a full time Raceday Operations Manager to organise and deliver exceptional raceday services and act as the key contact person on raceday for staff and contractors.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for raceday operations including casual staff, gate and bar operations, audio visual services, security and cleaning contractors.

The successful applicant must be a self-motivated, well organised individual who has previous experience at an event venue and is passionate about hospitality and providing high quality customer service.

Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and organise bar operations, including additional bars and equipment required for feature racedays;
  • Co-ordinate rosters for casual staff;
  • Train and supervise staff including use of POS system;
  • Recruitment of new staff;
  • Co-ordinate site cleaners and cleaning requirements;
  • Manage all necessary security staff;
  • Open and close of Venue on racedays;
  • Troubleshooting any audio visual issues on raceday; and
  • Manage cash and bar floats on racedays.

 

To be successful for this role you must:

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the events/hospitality industry;
  • Be available to work all race meetings as required;
  • Have excellent computer skills, including experience with POS systems;
  • Be able to maintain professional relationships at all times;
  • Current RMLV and RSA certificates preferable;
  • Have skills in high level time management, prioritisation, ability to meet deadlines and a commitment to safe work practices; and
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and work within a team.
