We are excited about our move to the Ballarat Turf Club in late February. We strongly believe the facilities and environment at Ballarat will greatly aid our horses, staff and results.
We now seek an experienced Stablehand to join our team on a full-time basis (but willing to review part-time or casual applicants), at Ballarat.
We are a stable rebuilding with younger horses and are constantly improving processes and communications to become more effective and to provide a great workplace for staff. These improvements include a restructuring of roles to better suit the qualifications of each staff member.
Successful applicants will be currently licensed with Racing Victoria, or eligible to be licensed by completing the mandatory Handle Horses and Follow OHS Procedures training units. Experience in a Thoroughbred Racing stable will be advantageous.
Stablehands perform general stable duties under the direction of our Assistant Trainer to prepare horses in the morning for track work. Swimming, tacking, washing and feeding horses is part of the morning routine. In the afternoon, horses are walked, rugged and taking for a swim, and feeds and waters replenished.
Raceday duties are shared amongst our team, and depend on experience level.
