Description

The Warrnambool Racing Club, home of Australia’s premier jumps racing carnival, conducts 19 race meetings per season, significant equine training activity and a new function centre. An exciting opportunity to join this dynamic team as Operations Manager now exists.

This highly sought-after role is responsible for the effective, efficient and safe delivery of all race days, non-race days and functions, and assisting the CEO in developing and implementing a strategic plan to advance WRC’s mission and objectives.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Event and function management - Developing and implementing management plans for the successful delivery of all
  • Race Day packages - Lead the design and creation of race day packages, and overseeing the process from development of package through to race day, ensuring the provision of a high level, professional service to clients.
  • Matilda Room functions - Overseeing event planning for functions held in the Matilda Room on race days and non-race days, including hospitality budget for each race day, non-race day and private event.
  • Staffing - Working with the Administration Manager to determine the most effective and efficient staffing model, including recruiting, training and induction.
  • Budget and business plan - Provide annual income and expense budgets.
  • Occupational health and safety - Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety policies, including public liability and risk issues in connection with the delivery of events and functions.
  • Website and social media - Developing and implementing a social media strategy and maintenance of website.
  • Membership - Support the Administration Manager and Officer with WRC membership processes.
  • General - Administrative assistance to the CEO.

To effectively perform in this role, the incumbent will possess high level business planning and development skills, strong event management skills and proven track record in all aspects of event management.
