HORSE BREAKER - KELVINSIDE

Godolphin is a world-class global thoroughbred breeding and racing operation. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced horseperson to join our Breaking Team for the 2022 breaking season, based at our Kelvinside operation in Aberdeen, NSW. Working collaboratively with the Breaking In Manager this position requires the hands on education and training of our yearlings in-hand and under saddle in preparation for their racing career.

Reporting to the Breaking In Manager, the successful applicant should be a passionate, reliable driven individual with thorough attention to detail, a positive attitude, good work ethic and be willing to go above and beyond in your role.

This position is available on an employment or contract breaking basis.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Educating Godolphin yearlings in the fundamental training required for each horse to begin their racing career
• Carry out pre-starting assessment of horses condition and temperament as well as provide progress and performance updates.
• Train horses to be safely handled in-hand, to be ridden and respond to basic commands and cues under saddle, to safely perform trackwork and introduce and educate horses to barrier stalls.
• Compliance with all organisational policies, procedures and processes and legislative standards and requirements

Criteria:

• Proven experience breaking/educating horses
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment
• Current Drivers Licence
