Tasracing is seeking to appoint a non-executive director and is calling for nominations of suitably-qualified individuals to serve as a harness code director to fulfil an upcoming vacancy on its Board. Tasracing is the principal racing authority in Tasmania. A State Owned Corporation, Tasracing was established in 2009 under the Racing (Tasracing Pty Ltd) Act 2009 (Act) to oversee the operations and future development of the Tasmanian racing industry.
The Tasracing Board comprises of seven directors, made up of a Chairperson, three directors with experience and expertise in the three codes of racing, and three directors with the experience and expertise necessary to enable the Company to achieve its objectives.
Nominations may be made by persons that are:
• a member of a harness racing club;
• a member of a harness racing industry association;
• licensed under the Rules of Racing for the harness code of racing; or
• an owner/trainer of harness horses.
Persons are eligible to nominate a maximum of three candidates each with experience and expertise relating to the harness code of racing.
In addition to the experience and expertise in harness racing, the candidates must possess relevant core business skills and personal qualities as outlined in the Role Statement to perform the duties of a director to a high standard. Project management experience would be considered favourably.
