Role Summary

Track Specialist to provide subject matter expertise on all Greyhound and Harness racing tracks through Queensland.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and professional Track Specialist to provide subject matter expertise on the strategic development, management, maintenance, rectification, development and construction of all Greyhound and Harness racing tracks throughout Queensland.

Reporting to the Senior Track and Racecourse Manager, this is a hands-on role working with all the Greyhound and Harness racing tracks through Queensland to ensure the racing surfaces are presented in the best possible condition.

The Success Profile

  • Extensive experience as a trusted and credible subject matter expert providing advice and recommendations relating to track management, maintenance, rectification, development and construction.
  • Operational experience at a greyhound or harness club level is highly desirable.
  • Broad working knowledge, perspective and demonstrated strategic agility in anticipating future consequences and trends accurately with respect to racetracks.
  • Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve complex problems and identify alternatives and develop or modify remedies and effective solutions to obtain approval.
  • Ability to conduct and communicate honest analysis of racetracks with the ability to identify hidden problems and act proactively to resolve.
  • Knowledgeable in current and future policies, practices, trends and technology affecting the organisation.
  • Superior negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders at every level.
  • Ability to identify and implement strategies to minimise risks and meet governance requirements for track maintenance and construction.
  • Builds constructive and effective relationships, uses diplomacy and tact and can diffuse high-tension situations with ease.
  • Experienced in project management including funding, budgeting, procurement and project administration.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to write reports for senior executives with limited edits required.
  • Must be able and willing to travel regularly to racing tracks throughout Queensland.
  • Tertiary qualification in related field is essential.
  • Demonstrated previous experience in a similar role, maintaining a Harness, Greyhound or Thoroughbred racing facility
