About Us:

The Werribee Racing Club conducts 7 race meetings per season. Positioned just on the edge of Melbourne, Spendthrift Australia Park is one of Victoria's oldest tracks, it is popular for its cosy atmosphere that brings race-goers close to the track and all the racing action.

 

With its high-class member’s facilities and ideal proximity to Flemington, Moonee Valley and Caulfield racetracks, Spendthrift Australia Park play’s home to international horses during their quarantine period at the Werribee International Horse Centre for the Spring Racing Carnival.

 

The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for results-driven individual to join the Werribee Racing Club in the role of General Manager. This role is responsible for professionally, effectively and efficiently managing the Club's business activities, including stakeholder relationship management, and maximising revenue returns through the profitable conduct of its racing operations.

You will ideally have demonstrated experience operating in a leadership role within a successful entertainment, hospitality, or event management setting. The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and experience:

  • Strong commercial, financial and event management skills
  • Sound business judgement and decision making capability
  • An ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including industry and local council, and build positive working relationships
  • Strong leadership capabilities with managerial experience in successfully managing and directing a diverse range of employees and contractors
  • Diverse marketing experience including Social Media campaigns, Print, Digital, TV and Radio
  • Exceptional organisational, communication and public relation skills.

 

Your preparedness to engage with both local and surrounding business and communities is critical to the success of the role.  Whilst not mandatory, an understanding of the thoroughbred racing industry would be beneficial.
