Foreperson - Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated foreperson to run our Flemington stables. This job will be the perfect role for someone looking to further their knowledge, with the support of Melbourne Cup winning trainer Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. The successful applicant will have the following:

• Proven ability as a foreperson in a racing stable.
• Superior organisational skills.
• Have a strong work ethic and be willing to pitch in with all stable duties.
• Skills in the treatment of horses and able to bandage horses’ legs correctly.
• Must be able to saddle horses correctly for trials and races.
• Must be able to follow feeding guidelines and report back to the trainers on the horses’ eating habits.
• Must be able to effectively organise staff and lead by example whilst also liaising with the stable veterinarian, farrier, and transport providers.
• An applicant with a history of riding trackwork is preferred, but not essential.

The roster is as follows:

Monday – Friday: 2:30am – 8:30am & 12:00pm – 2:30pm
Saturday: 2:30am – 8:30am & 11:00am – 12:00pm
Sunday: 4:30am – 8:30am & 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Staff work a fortnightly roster, with one weekday afternoon off per week and a Saturday afternoon and Sunday off per fortnight.
