The role 

The Foreperson Post Arrival Quarantine (PAQ) role is based at Mickleham. The Foreperson role is responsible for assisting the Manager PAQ in the coordination and day to day running of our Post Arrival Quarantine barn operations and being the main point of contact in the managers absence. Duties of the Foreperson role include but not limited to:

• Assist with planning, co-ordinating and overseeing PAQ horses and staff.
• General horse management and handling.
• Assisting with staff coordination.
• Assist with new staff inductions on horse practices, bio-security regulations, vehicle/equipment use and safety procedures.
• Coordinating and ordering feed and supplies.
• Horse handling, monitoring unwell horses and administering and documentation of medications/treatments under direction of the manager.
• Assist with monitoring and training of staff in bio-security, IRT PAQ guidelines and horse handling/welfare.
• Coordinate the set-up and clean-up of the facility.
• Record and provide reports as requested.

We are looking for applicants who are available to work a rotating roster.

The person

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for horses and staff coordination skills.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• Previous experience working with horses.
• The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Possess strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
• The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
