Foreperson

Hawkes Racing is a prominent horse training partnership comprising of John, Wayne and Michael Hawkes.

An opportunity exists for a highly experienced Foreperson to assist in the running of our successful Rosehill stable.

It is a full-time position and you will need to be a passionate, proactive person who has acquired an extensive knowledge of horse husbandry while working within the thoroughbred industry.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Represent the stable on race days and trials
• Taking full charge during trainers absence.
• Organise the daily running of morning and afternoon stable routine
• Liaising with trainers, suppliers, and owners
• Effectively manage and direct a small team of staff
• Assist our stable veterinarian

To be considered for this role you will need:

• Experience working with thoroughbreds and a firm understanding of the training, care and nutrition of horses
• Appropriate leadership skills to manage the stable and work effectively within a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good record keeping with knowledge of Microsoft excel and Ardex being an advantage.
