The Canberra Racing Club (CRC) is responsible for thoroughbred horse racing and is the principal racing authority in the ACT. As a member based organisation, CRC conducts 25 race meetings per year including ACT's premier races, the Black Opal Stakes, and the Canberra Cup. CRC is also undertaking a Territory Plan variation process. This will allow the club to change the zoning of underutilised land at Thoroughbred Park for commercial and residential uses.
CRC conducts a diverse range of business activities spanning functions and events, sponsorship, and marketing as well as equine services for the 270 horses located on-site. The Thoroughbred Park site will also be developed to provide a financially sustainable thoroughbred racing industry in the ACT. The aim is to develop a site that will be recognised as a modern racing and entertainment precinct with the capacity to expand and growth thoroughbred racing.
This is an opportunity to play a critical role in CRC's growth. Working closely alongside the CEO and COO, the Financial Controller will lead the finance function and provide strong strategic support to the senior executive. This is a hands-on role where you will oversee the work of two staff members who manage the BAU and day to day accounts processing.
