Stablehands perform general stable duties to prepare horses in the morning for track work. Swimming, tacking, washing and feeding horses is part of the morning routine. In the afternoon, horses are walked, rugged and taking for a swim, and feeds and waters replenished.
Familiarity of the racing industry work day routine is required. If successful, your morning shifts start at 5.00am and a shorter afternoon shift starts at 2pm (with rostered afternoons off). There is a fortnightly weekend roster for Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
The opportunity to accompany horses to race meetings and carry out raceday strapping duties is available depending on experience.
Most importantly, you must possess a love of horses and the ability to work constructively with others in the team.
Wages offered are commensurate to experience.
