About Fenwick Farm

Fenwick Farm is a working thoroughbred facility specialising in bespoke breaking-in, pre-training and retraining/rehabilitation of racehorses. Our mission is to develop tailored education and training programming based on every horse’s specific needs. We achieve consistently strong results through persistent attention to detail, unwavering care of horses and a lifetime of experience all within our purpose-built property at Canungra.

Fenwick Farm is located in the Scenic Rim region, convenient to both the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and uniquely positioned to service the thoroughbred racing industry with capacity for over 100 horses, a 1300m sand track, a 1500m grass track, 40m lap pool, 8 horse aqua walker, 2 dry horse walkers, breaking-in yards and a covered sand arena.

The position offered is a seasonal contract commencing in January 2021 for a period of approximately four to six months.  Whilst the hours to fulfill the requirements of this role are flexible, thoroughbred training is a seven day per week undertaking where achievement of various milestones will require your unwavering attention and time investment in order to accomplish the priorities of the farm and the horses in our care.

Fenwick Farm, under the auspices of Greg Bennett, has built a reputation as a highly respected racehorse education facility.  The position available is instrumental in assisting our current team of breakers headed up by Greg Bennett to continue to produce impeccably educated thoroughbred racehorses of unrivalled quality.

The successful applicant will be an experienced horse breaker, willing to hone their craft under the guidance and instruction of Greg Bennett.

Key Skills

  • Demonstrated experience breaking in juvenile thoroughbred horses, including a thorough understanding of equine behavioural idiosyncrasies
  • Exceptional riding skills and horsemanship abilities
  • Knowledge of thoroughbred stud farms and breeding

Remuneration is in keeping with current market rates, negotiable to be commensurate with applicant skills and experience.
