Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) is a growing, membership-based organisation helping to market and promote the state’s thoroughbred breeding industry.
TBV is seeking a self-motivated Executive Officer who has the ability to think-outside-the-box. You will need to be able to work independently however, you will work as part of a team in projects and stakeholder engagement.
Each day will present a variety of diverse tasks, you will need to travel interstate for horse sales and there is flexibility if you occasionally need to work from home. You will also be required to attend race days, such as the VOBIS Gold Premier race series and other events, out of business hours as part of this role.
The Executive Officer will undertake a number of key tasks including:
- Marketing of TBV and its members through social media, the TBV website and a weekly e-newsletter
- Identifying and implementing innovative marketing opportunities for the Victorian breeding industry
- Membership administration & inquiries
- Organisation of industry networking, awards and sales-based events
- Development of stakeholder relationships with organisations such as Racing Victoria, sales companies, the State Government and other racing/breeding organisations
- Management and development of sponsorships
- Visits to breeding farms around Victoria and attending the odd raceday
- Administration of TBV Committee meetings
- Assist with budget management
- Other tasks as required by the TBV Committee
Things you will definitely need:
- A knowledge of the thoroughbred breeding industry
- Really good public relations, writing and planning skills, including ability to write press releases.
- Strong sense of social skills
- Ability to work with a diverse range of industry stakeholders, breeders and members
- A strategic mindset, coupled with strong business acumen.
- A good understanding of social media particularly Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
- A working understanding of Mailchimp and WordPress would also be useful but not compulsory
