Castlereagh
Racing NSW is the statutory body for horse racing in NSW and owns a number of properties across the state as part of its Equine Welfare Program. Our Castlereagh property is used for retraining and rehoming thoroughbred horses after their racing careers and includes 137 acres of paddocks and equine infrastructure.
The Equine Welfare Grounds Staff will be responsible for:
- Lawn care, gardening, tree pruning and general yard work
- Paddock and pasture maintenance
- Assisting with fence repairs and painting
- Assisting with cleaning and maintenance of stables and infrastructure
- Ensuring proper use of machinery and recording in logbooks
- Cleaning and maintenance of farm machinery, tools and vehicles
- Assisting with feeding of the horses in the equine welfare program
- General ad hoc tasks as required
The successful applicant must have the below experience and attributes:
- A ‘can do’ attitude and determination to get results
- Practical experience in agricultural or labouring work
- Experience using property equipment and machinery
- Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to learn
- Drivers license and own vehicle
- Chemical certificate
The successful applicant will also ideally have the following:
- Experience with horses, particularly Thoroughbreds
- First Aid certificate
- Hold an MR licence for operation of horse transport truck
